the toxic days are here: enrollment of irregular comm. students. i came to school at 20 minutes past 8 am today (late -- ha ha) and since that time, i didn't stop with enrolling irregular students. good thing i had lunch break. i locked the office door so that i could have lunch without work or anyone disturbing my "holy hour." ma'am elvie and ma'am doty were actually inviting me for lunch but i didn't seem to like talking while having lunch so i decided to have lunch in the office. the problem was that the faculty room was locked and so i haven't had water. i actually finished lunch without water or coffee. after brushing my teeth, the enrollees entered the office right away. i couldn't let them wait so i got back to work. it was toxic, really and before i knew it, it was already 4:30 p.m. i asked the student who was then enrolling if i could just have coffee for a few minutes. i wanted to have coffee at 9 am but just had a chance to do so before 5 p.m. without coffee, i would not make it through the day. i had two mugs before the clock struck 5 p.m. (lol). while having coffee, i realized i haven't even had water after lunch.

after school, i needed to go to ILI for my ESL classes with Kevin and David. We studied grammar from 6 till 9 p.m. finally, my work day ended before 10 p.m. i was already home by then...

last Sunday night, i watched ANGELS AND DEMONS at SM cinemawith my husband. after many months, we had a chance to watch in theater again. thanks to dan brown's novel --- my husband knows i like the novel very much so he went to watch the movie with me... i think the last movie we watched together was Spider-man 3 or The Da Vinci Code -- whichever was more recent.

the movie Angels and Demons is a lot better than The Da Vinci Code. however, there are so many parts that are very much different from the novel. i love the novel very much but the movie didn't match the way i liked the novel. the details on the lives of the characters are not on the movie. the movie focused only on what happened at the vatican. no details about the life of Vittoria and of her father, and of the camerlengo. these details, i guess, made the novel more intriguing and more creative.

but the action and suspense plus the cinematography made the movie interesting and more entertaining. i like it! i'm writing a full review of the movie soon. (hope to get some time to do it).

it's the end of another trimester for me by next week. all i need to do now is to write all the reaction papers, movie review, book review and to answer the final exam. all these are supposed to be submitted on saturday... plus two more papers in my major subjects. of course, we have final meeting in my Spanish class on thursday and then final exam after that. i can't imagine how many hours i need to have in ordr to finish all these. i wish i could have more than 24 hours -- i mean waking hours, not including the time i need to sleep.

i guess, i won't be enrolling this coming trimester. i need to rest from one trimester then enroll again for the last 12 units. after that, i would be ready to write my dissertation. ahh, hopefully few more sleepless nights are needed to earn my Ph.D. degree. i want to study more after this degree (lol).

every day, my youngest daughter is becoming more fluent in the language. now, she can speak in straight tagalog. of course she understands basic english. what's more, she can count in Spanish from uno to dose. she learned it from the kidvid Dora the Explorer (lol). she also knows simple Spanish words like "hola," "gracias," etc. my kids like using simple Spanish since i shared with them what i learned from my class.

Levels Earned, Lessons Learned in SHAIYA

The holy week was not really holy for me. This was time of the year when I played hard. Really played hard, as in trying to make the toon level every time I logged in . And to help my toon level up, even my husband and my daughter would play with her. This year, my toon is DanieGanda. Danie, for the record, is my daughter's nick name. But I thought of adding the word "Ganda," which is a tagalog term for Beauty. DanieGanda is a human priest in the normal mode. As the rule in Shaiya, a player won't be able to create a character in the hard mode [here, toons are stronger] without first reaching level 40 in the normal mode, which is a level lower than HM. When DanieGanda started, she was power leveled by king-kruller, whom DanieGanda met while my daughter was playing the toon. King_kruller was als o Danie's first friend in Shaiya. At the moment, he's already level 58, UM. The experience was good for Danie was able to meet players from different walks o

Management Lessons from GUNG HO

'I must recognize that man achieves the highest degree of efficiency when he plays. If someone says he works out of loyalty to the company, he is a damned liar.' ----Soichiro Honda Founder-millionaire Honda Motor Co., Ltd. When a company fails, who should take the blame? When the workers complain, who should do some reflections, the management or the workers themselves? Hunt Stevenson, in the movie GUNG HO (means to WORK TOGETHER) , needed to do some reflections before it was too late. His failure to do some actions would result in closure of Assan Motors, thereby leaving hundreds of American laborers unemployed. According to Robert Heller, the author of the article EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT: TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, "How the boss behaves has a profound effect on how other managers perform - and thus on the performance of the entire outfit. That's a self-evident truth, acknowledged by most people. But few bosses acknowledge the corollary: that inferior performance is partl

An Open Letter to my Daughter as She Goes Off to College

Dear Stef, I know you’re excited to go to college, meet new friends, and embrace a more fast-paced life in Manila. I’m also excited for you! I know that the physical distance between us will only make you become stronger and more prepared to face the real world once you’ve finished college. I want you to be fully equipped and well-prepared when that time comes. I’m confident you won’t have problems being on your own. As you know, I’ve been there – was then studying in Manila, away from my parent, since I was in high school, kaya pagdating ng college sa Baguio, halos end of semester na lang ako umuuwi. At least ngayon, meron nang FB, Twitter, Skype and ‘unli text and call’, so keeping in touch is no longer an issue. Pero siyempre, iba pa rin kapag we don’t see you every day para kumustahin ang araw mo. . . Well, malapit lang naman ang Manila from Angeles, and madali ka lang puntahan, or madali ka lang makauwi, but it’s still very different from what I’ve been used to. Ngayon, without y
