I've just finished watching THE DA VINCI CODE DECEPTION.
The docu has a point. Really.
But I think Dan Brown also made a point.
I think, the so-called inaccuracies in Dan Brown's book don't really matter. Readers should be educated. They should learn to distinguish fact from fiction. Besides, Dan Brown isn't really an expert in Arts, Literature and History of Faith. Even if he claims he has numerous sources, that won't make his book free from inaccuracies.
So what?
What matters is that readers got puzzled and intrigued and started reviewing and testing their faith. You see, faith is the most taken-for-granted aspect of our lives. We believe, therefore, we think no more. Dan Brown just attempted to challenge our imagination and belief.
Dan Brown implied in his book that the publisher of the bible spent money because he had his own agenda. Well... i don't want to elaborate on that. Surely, Dan Brown also had his own agenda when he bravely allowed publication of his bestseller THE DA VINCI CODE.
Actually, the book was published in 2003. Now, the readers (like me :) can't wait to see the movie which will be shown on May. This made me realize that the Catholic church and the 'believers' of Jesus Christ started to publicize their reaction on Dan Brown's novel because they fear that the movie will reach the mass -- those bunches of people who are too lazy to verify assertions. I think, if the THE DA VINCI CODE remains a novel in hardbound copies, the religious ones won't make a big deal out of their emotional reaction on the novel. After all, novel readers know how not to accept everything the author says.
It isn't Dan brown or the Catholic's faith that is at stake here but our OWN FAITH. Losing our faith means losing our chance to be hopeful that tomorrow will be a lot brighter than it is today.
I think, it is better not to take side -- church's or Dan Brown's-- because in this world, there is only one side, and that is HOW WE SEE THE WORLD. NOthing else matters.
